The cable drum is a kind of spool to change direction and carry the cables force to components for deflection in some aircraft systems such as flight controls
for example: a drum in a trim tab control system on which the control cable is wound. rotation of the drum by the trim tab control wheel moves the cable to deflect the trim tab.
