A breaker contact (or "points") is a type of electrical switch, and the term typically refers to the switching device found in the distributor of the ignition systems of spark-ignition internal combustion engines. A condition in which the breaker points in an aircraft magneto bounce open, rather than remaining closed when the cam follower moves off of the cam lobe.
