Hovering In Ground Effect (helicopter Operation)

A helicopter hovering in ground effect (IGE) is in flight, but it is not moving over the ground, and it is flying at a height equal to or less than the span of its rotor above the surface. in this condition where the downwash of air from the main rotor is able to react with a hard surface (the ground), and give a useful reaction to the helicopter in the form of more lift force available with less engine power required.
