وسیله نمایش سرعت عمودی یا اوج سنج ،
ابزار و نشانگری که میزان و مقدار حرکت صعودی یا حرکت نزولی هواپیما را به خلبان نشان می دهد.
در داخل محفظه این نشانگر یک بلوز (آنیرویید) وجود دارد که فشار هوای استاتیک محیط پیرامون هواپیما را بصورت مستقیم دریافت می کند اما فشار داخل خود محفظه اصلی نشانگر با محدودیت و کمی تاخیر نسبت به بلوز دریافت میشود و لذا وقتی ارتفاع هواپیما در حال تغییر باشد بین بلوز و محفظه اختلاف فشار بوجود می آید. وقتی هواپیما ارتفاع خود را تغییر می دهد ، فشار داخل بلوز بلافاصله تغییر می کند. اما به دلیل محدودیت کالیبره شده ، تغییر فشار داخل محفظه با تاخیر همراه است. و نهایتاً اختلاف فشار داخل و خارج از بلوز باعث انبساط یا انقباض آن شده و این تغییر باعث می شود که عقربه روی صفحه نشانگر حرکت کند و سرعت صعود یا فرود را به خلبان نشان دهد.
Description
An instrument that gives the pilot an indication of the rate at which an aircraft is climbing or descending. A vertical speed indicator is a pressure instrument with a calibrated restriction between the case and bellows. When the aircraft changes altitude, the pressure inside the bellows changes immediately. But because of the calibrated restriction, the pressure change inside the case lags behind the pressure change in the bellows. The difference between the pressure inside and outside of the bellows causes the bellows to expand or collapse, and this change in its dimensions causes a pointer to move over its dial showing the pilot the rate of climb or descent. Vertical-speed indicators are often called rate-of-climb indicators.
